Lucknow: Lucknow police have arrested members of a notorious gang involved in the robbery of an ethanol tanker in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT). The criminals had looted the tanker at gunpoint on Kisan Path at midnight a few days ago.
The tanker, carrying ethanol worth ₹30 lakh, was en route from Shahjahanpur to the Lucknow depot when it was hijacked by armed miscreants. However, the GPS installed in the vehicle led police to its location in the Dubagga police station area, where it was recovered.
A total of six gang members have been arrested, including four directly involved in the robbery. The police also seized several items used in the crime, including:
-
A brand-new Maruti Ertiga without a number plate
-
A Maruti car with “High Court Advocate” written on it
-
A 12-bore pistol and two live cartridges
-
Drums filled with thousands of liters of stolen ethanol
The breakthrough in the case is a major success for the Lucknow police, as the gang was involved in multiple crimes in the region. Authorities are continuing further investigations.
