New Delhi: Understanding which apps are accessing personal data, when they are accessing it and where that information is being sent can be difficult for smartphone users. Seeking to address these concerns, AI+ Smartphone has introduced NXT Quantum OS 1.1, an updated operating system designed to provide users with greater visibility and control over data usage and privacy.
A key feature of the update is the company’s emphasis on keeping its core data infrastructure and source code secured within India. According to the company, all app-related data traffic under NXT Quantum OS 1.1 will be processed through servers located in India.
The operating system will automatically monitor source rules associated with more than 1,000 connections and 172 destination IP addresses, allowing the system to track network activity and identify potentially unusual data flows. The company said data traffic and IP pings will remain within Indian networks, with traffic routed to California and Singapore only for essential Google core services.
NXT Quantum OS 1.1 also introduces the NXT Privacy Dashboard, giving users a centralised view of permissions granted to different applications. Users will be able to review, modify or disable permissions depending on their requirements.
The dashboard will also provide information on applications accessing device features in the background, including when such access takes place. The system is designed to issue privacy alerts when an application appears to be using permissions beyond what may be necessary.
Madhav Sheth, CEO of NXT Quantum Shift Technologies and AI+ Smartphones, said technology should not be judged solely by its capabilities but also by the level of trust it inspires among users.
“Technology’s future is not determined only by what it can do. The real question is how much people can trust it,” Sheth said.
The new operating system update is also part of Project Open Review 2.0, an initiative that allows reviewers, content creators, journalists and ethical hackers to test AI+ devices and provide feedback.
The company said the initiative is intended to encourage greater scrutiny of its devices and software while giving independent users an opportunity to identify potential issues and suggest improvements.
With increasing smartphone use and growing concerns around app permissions and digital privacy, AI+ is positioning NXT Quantum OS 1.1 as an effort to make data practices more transparent and give users greater control over how applications interact with their devices.
