Gonda — Following the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal has instructed the District Magistrates and concerned officials of Gonda, Bahraich, Balrampur, and Shravasti districts under Devipatan Division to exercise complete vigilance and effectively carry out relief and rescue operations in view of the heavy rainfall.
The Divisional Commissioner directed that an immediate on-site survey and assessment of crop damage be conducted in the rain-affected areas. Joint teams of the Revenue and Agriculture departments are to visit the affected areas to ensure a realistic assessment of crop losses, so that eligible farmers can receive timely relief as per government provisions.
In view of the heavy rainfall, surveys to assess damaged crops are being carried out through all Sub-Divisional Magistrates. Concerned officials have been directed to conduct on-site verification in affected areas to ensure a fair and transparent assessment of crop damage.
Amid the natural calamity caused by the heavy rain, directions have been issued to restore power supply smoothly in the affected districts of Gonda, Balrampur, and Shravasti, and action is being taken to survey crop damage and provide permissible relief to affected families as per rules.
The Divisional Commissioner directed that cases related to loss of life and other damage be prioritized for on-site verification and necessary action, and that eligible affected families be provided relief in accordance with government norms.
She directed special monitoring of low-lying and waterlogged areas, villages situated along rivers and drains, and other sensitive locations across all four districts. Officials and staff were told to remain mobile in the field, continuously monitor the situation, and immediately initiate relief and rescue operations wherever necessary.
Prevention of Loss of Life Top Priority
The Divisional Commissioner said preventing loss of life is the administration’s topmost priority. Arrangements should be made, as needed, to move people from waterlogged and rain-affected areas to safe locations. Dilapidated buildings and other potentially risky locations should be identified and necessary precautions taken.
She directed that flood outposts and control rooms remain active, with immediate action taken on every information received. All concerned departments — Revenue, Police, Health, Agriculture, Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, Electricity, and Disaster Management — were told to work in close coordination with one another.
The Divisional Commissioner directed that food, drinking water, medical facilities, essential medicines, and other necessary relief material be made available to affected people in a timely manner. She made clear that no negligence or laxity would be tolerated at any level in relief and rescue operations.
She appealed to the general public to avoid venturing near rivers, drains, fast-flowing water, and waterlogged areas during the heavy rainfall, and to follow the safety guidelines issued by the administration.
The Divisional Commissioner said the administration is fully alert in the current situation of heavy rainfall, and that ensuring public safety, preventing loss of life, timely assessment of crop damage, and providing relief to affected families as per rules remain the administration’s topmost priorities. All District Magistrates have been asked to maintain special vigilance in their respective districts and ensure all arrangements function smoothly.
