Lucknow: Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya organised its first one-day National Service Scheme (NSS) camp under the guidance and leadership of Principal Professor Manjula Upadhyay.
The camp began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and floral tribute before Goddess Saraswati by the principal and invited guests. NSS volunteers presented Saraswati Vandana, following which the guests were welcomed with saplings. BSc first-year student Unni Gupta presented a dance based on the NSS “Lakshya Geet”.
The first session featured expert lectures by doctors from Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow. Dr Ankita Garg, Consultant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, spoke on recognising anxiety and depression, managing stress and developing resilience. Dr Geeta Singh, Associate Consultant, Radiation Oncology, discussed cancer prevention, early detection and the importance of regular screening.
After the lunch break, the hospital’s medical team conducted a free health check-up camp. Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students underwent eye examinations and tests for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, calcium and uric acid. Participants were also provided free Healthy Family Privilege Cards.
During the concluding session, Principal Professor Manjula Upadhyay encouraged students to embrace social service, discipline and healthy lifestyle practices.
The camp was jointly coordinated by NSS programme officers Dr Manisha Badouniya, Dr Chandan Maurya and Diksha. Students, faculty members and staff participated enthusiastically. The programme concluded with the collective singing of “Vande Mataram”.
