Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh chaired a review meeting on the progress of the Farmer Registry programme at the Collectorate Auditorium on Tuesday, directing officials to accelerate registrations and improve performance in underperforming tehsils.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate observed that the pace of Farmer Registry registrations in Bahedi, Aonla, Mirganj and Sadar tehsils was comparatively low. He instructed the concerned officials to take immediate corrective measures and ensure significant improvement in the registration figures.
Emphasising the importance of the programme, Singh said the Chief Secretary regularly reviews its progress through video conferencing and warned that negligence in its implementation would not be tolerated. He directed officials to actively motivate farmers who have not yet completed their Farmer Registry to register without delay so they can benefit from government welfare schemes.
The District Magistrate also instructed the Deputy Director of Agriculture to intensify awareness campaigns and public outreach activities to increase farmer participation across the district.
To improve performance, he directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to assign registration targets to Lekhpal officials in every tehsil and closely monitor their progress.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra. Singh instructed all SDMs to immediately convene Peace Committee meetings in areas where they have not yet been held. He further directed officials to ensure compliance with prescribed norms, including regulations related to the height of DJ sound systems and other arrangements, to maintain law and order during the pilgrimage.
Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Purnima Singh, District Agriculture Officer Ritusha Tiwari, the Deputy Director of Agriculture and all Sub-Divisional Magistrates attended the review meeting.
