National P.G. College organizes Seminar on “Pathways to Sustainable Development through Indian Knowledge System and Governance”

Lucknow: National P.G. College organized an National Conference on ““Pathways to Sustainable Development through Indian Knowledge System and Governance””, bringing together distinguished administrators, academicians, researchers, scholars and students to deliberate on India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. The conference focused on the integration of Indian Knowledge System (IKS), scientific inquiry, indigenous innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainable development and good governance.

Prof. Devendra Kumar Singh, Principal, National P.G. College, emphasized that the vision of Viksit Bharat must be based on a balanced and sustainable development model that combines India’s rich intellectual and cultural heritage with modern science, technology and innovation. He highlighted the relevance of the Indian Knowledge System in addressing contemporary challenges related to environmental conservation, social welfare, cultural values and responsible governance. He stressed that sustainable development must integrate economic prosperity, environmental protection, social justice and ethical governance. He also underlined the role of educational institutions in nurturing scientific temper, innovation, entrepreneurship and responsible citizenship among youth.
The conference was inaugurated by  K. Vijay Kumar, IPS (Retd.), Former Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, who highlighted the remarkable achievements of ancient India in metallurgy, trade, indigenous measurement systems, education and scientific thought. Referring to archaeological evidence and ancient trade networks, he emphasized the sophistication of India’s economic and technological systems.

He also highlighted Nalanda as a historic global centre of learning and stressed the importance of curiosity, mentorship, lifelong learning and the pursuit of knowledge. Drawing upon his 37 years of public service, he encouraged students to become seekers of truth and innovators committed to nation-building.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Audhesh Kumar emphasized that youth are the principal architects of India’s future. He called for education to move beyond rote learning towards skill development, entrepreneurship, self-reliance and practical learning, in keeping with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also discussed the contemporary relevance of traditional Indian knowledge and practices and advocated their examination through scientific inquiry. Linking Viksit Bharat @ 2047 with the ideals of Ramrajya and “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah,” he emphasized a society based on prosperity, social harmony, justice and well-being.

Prof. Kumar further stressed that sustainable development must encompass Samajik Nyay, cultural values, environmental stewardship, economic prosperity and Sushasan. The conference thus highlighted the need for a harmonious synthesis of India’s traditional wisdom and modern scientific knowledge.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Rakesh Pathak, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, keynote speaker, Principal, dignitaries, academicians, delegates, faculty members and student volunteers for their valuable contribution to the success of the conference.

The conference reaffirmed National P.G. College, Lucknow’s commitment to promoting Indian Knowledge System, sustainable development, innovation, research and good governance, while inspiring young minds to contribute meaningfully to the realization of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
