Women Celebrate Hariyali Teej with Traditional Festivities at Shyam Temple in Gonda

Gonda: The Shyam Mandir Mahila Mandal organised a vibrant Sawan Hariyali Teej Mahotsav at Shri Shyam Temple in Dadua Bazaar, Gonda, bringing together women, children and members of the Marwari community for an evening of traditional celebrations, music and entertainment.

The programme began with a prayer to Lord Ganesha by Minister Santosh Agrawal. Women, including newly married and married daughters and daughters-in-law of the community, participated enthusiastically in the celebrations dressed in traditional sarees, lehengas and suits.

The temple premises were decorated with green leaves and green fabrics to create a festive Sawan atmosphere. On the occasion of Independence Day, the shrine of Baba Khatu Shyam Ji was also decorated in the colours of the national flag.

A range of fun activities and competitions were organised during the event, including a Teej special surprise quiz, Shringar Game, Memory Game, Bangle Game, Housie, riddles and dance competitions. Women and girls participated enthusiastically in the various activities.

Children also added colour to the celebrations with lively dance performances. The duo of Roli and Moli Jain, along with Ananya, Nitya Maheshwari, Sanvika Garg and Dhruvi Agrawal, presented performances on songs including “Kapur Gauram Karunavataram” and “Rangeeli Sawan Aayo Re”. Their performances drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Former minister Poonam Mittal and Sudha Tekriwal served as judges for the competitions and announced the winners. At the conclusion of the programme, the Mahila Mandal honoured winners and participants with prizes.

The event was hosted by Pooja Modi and Anchal Garg.

The swings installed on the temple premises emerged as a major attraction during the Sawan celebrations. Women, children and other visitors enjoyed riding the swings and participating in the festive spirit.

The event was attended by Shyam Mandir Mahila Mandal president Meena Agrawal, minister Santosh Agrawal, treasurer Benu Agrawal, Dr Usha Agrawal, Neelam Jain, Neetu Garg, Sharda Garg, Varsha Agrawal, Amita Agrawal, Padma Modi, Uma Tajpuria, Shri Shyam Mandir Trust president Suresh Bhavsinghka, Anoop Bansal and a large number of community members.

The celebration reflected the community’s enthusiasm for preserving traditional customs while providing a festive platform for women and children to come together during the Sawan season.
