‘Sawan Manbhawan’ Celebrates the Colours of Folk Culture in Gonda

Gonda: The Deep Social Institute hosted a vibrant cultural programme, ‘Sawan Manbhawan’, at Dr Sampoornanand Auditorium, Town Hall, on Sunday, bringing together the charm of the monsoon season, the richness of folk traditions and the nostalgia of the 1980s.

The event was inaugurated by the mother of the Divisional Commissioner along with her daughters, Digara and Dania, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp. The programme then unfolded with a series of colourful cultural performances depicting the beauty of Sawan and the diverse traditions of Indian culture.

Dance performances featuring traditional expressions and graceful movements, along with melodious musical presentations, created an atmosphere of celebration inside the auditorium. A special 1980s theme added to the appeal, with artistes performing popular songs from the era in their own distinctive styles. The venue was also decorated in keeping with the retro theme, evoking fond memories of a bygone period.

The celebrations extended beyond music and dance, with a variety of fun games and competitions in which participants and members of the audience took part enthusiastically. The combination of traditional monsoon festivities, music, dance and entertainment gave the event a lively and festive character.

The programme was attended by prominent city doctors, including Dr Anita Mishra, Dr Anju Agarwal, Dr Gauri Malik and Dr Usha Agarwal, whose presence added distinction to the occasion.

Several participants were recognised for their performances and contributions. Rashmi Srivastava won the title of First Teej Queen, while Pooja Bisaria was named Second Teej Queen. Tanya Vardhan Malhotra received the award for Best Dance Performance of the Evening. Shefali Pandey and Shivani Shukla were honoured as Best Supporting Women, while Swati Mishra and Swati Yadav won the award for Best Dance Duo.

The Best Supporting Men award was presented to Sunil Soni, Kapishwar Agarwal and Manish Srivastava. Other participants were also felicitated and encouraged for their enthusiastic involvement and performances.

Deep Social Institute president Urmila Pandey said the organisation remains committed to promoting Indian culture, art and community participation alongside its broader social initiatives. She said ‘Sawan Manbhawan’ was organised with the aim of bringing people together through cultural expression and shared celebration. She expressed gratitude to the guests, artistes, participants and supporters whose cooperation contributed to the success of the event.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of participants and contributors. Blending the festive spirit of Sawan with music, dance, folk traditions and the nostalgia of the 1980s, ‘Sawan Manbhawan’ left the audience with a memorable evening celebrating culture and community.
