Workshop on Yoga and Ayurveda Held at Balrampur Hospital Ahead of International Yoga Day Countdown

Lucknow: A one-day workshop on the theme “Importance of Yoga and Ayurvedic Lifestyle in Daily Life” was organised at the AYUSH Department of Balrampur Hospital as part of the 100-day countdown to International Day of Yoga.

The programme focused on promoting holistic health practices through yoga, Ayurveda and natural healing methods. Speaking at the event, chief guest Dr Himanshu Chaturvedi said that regular practice of yoga, naturopathy and Ayurvedic lifestyle habits can help prevent common lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, fatty liver, hypertension and heart ailments.

Psychiatrist and Medical Superintendent Dr Praveen Kumar Srivastava highlighted the mental health benefits of yoga, stating that consistent practice of pranayama, meditation and yoga postures can significantly help in managing stress, anxiety and depression.

Dr Arun Kumar Bharari spoke about the importance of yoga in improving vitality and assisting the body in eliminating toxins. Meanwhile, yoga and Ayurveda expert Dr Nandlal Yadav discussed how unhealthy eating habits, irregular lifestyles and excessive social media usage are contributing to rising cases of cervical spondylitis and mental health disorders, which can be effectively managed through therapeutic yoga practices.

Brijmohan Sharma described Ayurveda as India’s ancient healthcare heritage and said adopting Ayurvedic principles in daily life can help reduce medical expenses and improve overall well-being.

During the workshop, participants were also shown demonstrations related to water pH quality and its impact on health. Several individuals associated with yoga and Ayurveda were honoured for their contributions in the field.

The event witnessed participation from healthcare professionals, yoga practitioners, nursing students, social workers and representatives from various organisations, reflecting growing public interest in preventive healthcare and wellness-based living.
