Lucknow: Neelam Shankhwar from Lucknow has been crowned VG Mrs India Global Icon Phoenix Queen 2026 after emerging victorious in a prestigious national-level beauty pageant held in New Delhi.
Addressing a press conference in Lucknow on Wednesday, Neelam, who is a teacher by profession, shared details of her journey and achievement. The competition was organised at Fairley Hotels and Resorts and was based on the theme “Dream, Dare and Be the Queen.”
The pageant featured multiple competitive segments, including traditional attire, dance performances, evening gown presentations, talent showcases, personal interviews and ramp walks. Neelam credited her success to hard work, dedication and consistent efforts, saying the achievement reflects the power of determination and self-confidence.
Speaking about the honour, Neelam said the crown represents much more than beauty or glamour. According to her, it symbolises resilience, self-belief and the courage to break social stereotypes while creating a unique identity for oneself, whether as a working professional or a homemaker.
She dedicated the title to women striving to balance family, career and social responsibilities while pursuing their dreams. Neelam also acknowledged the unwavering support of her husband and children, saying their encouragement played a major role in her success.
As an educator, she emphasised the importance of women’s education and empowerment in nation-building. She said an educated and empowered woman lays the foundation for a progressive and self-reliant society. Highlighting the transformative power of education, she added that when a girl is educated, she uplifts not only herself but also her entire family and community.
