Unique gas heater to help beat the chill

District Magistrate Neha Sharma

Gonda: To protect people from cold, this time gas heaters will be lit at public places instead of bonfires.  District Magistrate Neha Sharma inaugurated the gas based heater at Gurunanak intersection. People will be able to avoid cold by standing near this heater. To provide relief to the poor as well as those who travel in the cold, an exercise has been started to install gas heaters at 27 public places in the district.

This is being considered an important initiative for the purpose of environmental protection. The use of gas heaters is cheap and safe. It also reduces pollution and smoke caused by burning traditional bonfires. These gas heaters are being installed in all Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats as a pilot project.

Two gas heaters have been installed in each Nagar Panchayat. 4 gas heaters have been installed in Karnailganj and Mankapur Nagar Palika, while five gas heaters have been installed in Nagar Palika Gonda. LPG will be used in these gas heaters. The refilling of each gas heater will last for 25 days, making it a long-term and convenient solution. The cost of a gas heater is Rs 12,500, which will prove to be more economical than lighting a bonfire as it lasts longer. The DM also inspected the night shelter and directed to make all arrangements in place before the cold intensifies.
