Refusing to compromise on nationalism, BJP goes solo in Punjab

Chandigarh: In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP will contest alone in Punjab. There has been no discussion on alliance with Akali Dal. Giving this information, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar has clarified the position of the party in the state. However, there were already indications that an alliance between the two would not be possible. BJP had expressed strong objection to many aspects of the proposal prepared by Akali Dal regarding alliance. A few days ago, talks between the two parties regarding seat sharing had also stopped.

Why were the paths of alliance closed?

BJP is upset with the proposal brought by the core committee of Akali Dal. It called for abolition of NSA, opening of Ferozepur and Attari borders. But BJP had clearly denied this. Both these demands are related to nationalism and nationalism is the most important weapon of BJP.

BJP is busy deciding its candidate

There are 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab. Now after finalizing the alliance, BJP has started preparing to field candidates on all the seats. Punjab BJP co-in-charge Dr. Narendra Raina has already said that BJP makes its agenda at the national level. We cannot compromise with nationalism.
