Special Arrangements to Remain in Force on Four Tuesdays in June 2026
Lucknow: The Traffic Police, Lucknow, has issued a detailed traffic diversion plan in view of the upcoming “Bada Mangal” festival, which will be observed on June 2, June 9, June 16, and June 23, 2026. The arrangements aim to ensure smooth movement of devotees and maintain law and order during the religious gatherings across the city.
According to the advisory, the diversion plan will come into effect from midnight of June 1/2, 2026 and will remain operational on all designated festival Tuesdays until the conclusion of related events.
Key Traffic Diversions
Heavy vehicles, roadways buses, and city buses coming from Sitapur Road will not be allowed to move towards No. 8 Chauraha via Puraniya and Daliganj railway crossings. Instead, traffic will be diverted via Daliganj railway crossing, Khadra, and Pakka Pul to reach their destinations.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Gomti Nagar, Kaiserbagh, and Hazratganj will not be permitted towards IT Crossing and Kapoorthala via Subhash Chauraha. They will instead be rerouted through Clarke Avadh, Shaheed Smarak, Daliganj Pul, Shahmina, Pakka Pul, Puraniya Railway Crossing, Madiaon, Chiraiyazhil, Sankalp Vatika, Nishatganj, and Mahanagar.
Traffic from Kursi Road will be diverted from Vishnupuri Colony and Hewett Polytechnic (Rahimnagar) crossing and rerouted via Wireless Chauraha, Gol Market, Badshahnagar, Nishatganj, and Sikandar Bagh.
Vehicles coming from IT Crossing and Nirala Nagar will not be allowed towards Kapoorthala via Vivekanand Polytechnic and Overbridge route. They will be diverted via Ayodhya Road, Central Bank Tiraha, Wireless Chauraha, and Hewett Polytechnic towards Vishnupuri.
Similarly, traffic from Sahara Tower (Municipal Zone-3) towards Aliganj will be diverted via alternative internal routes including Sai Mandir Tiraha, Nirala Nagar Overbridge, and nearby connecting roads.

Commercial and small vehicles from IT/Nirala Nagar will be diverted via No. 8 Chauraha, Daliganj Railway Overbridge, Alkapuri, and Puraniya instead of Kapoorthala Chauraha.
Additional diversions have been imposed at key junctions including Chhanni Lal Chauraha, Sai Mandir Aliganj, Alkapuri Tiraha, Clark Avadh Tiraha, and Motimahal Tiraha, with traffic being redirected through alternate routes such as Hazratganj, KD Singh Babu Stadium, SBI Tiraha, Wireless Chauraha, and Subhash Chauraha.
Vehicles approaching Hanumant Dham Temple and Hanuman Setu Temple corridors from several points including Subhash Chauraha, IT Crossing, and Central Academy Tiraha will also be restricted and diverted through designated alternative routes.
Emergency Services Exempted
The Traffic Police clarified that despite restrictions, ambulances, school buses, fire services, and hearse vehicles will be permitted on restricted routes in case of medical emergencies or unavoidable situations. Advisory to Citizens
Authorities have urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, follow diversion signage, and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the festival days. The traffic arrangements will be implemented on all four Tuesdays of the Bada Mangal celebrations in June 2026.
The Lucknow Traffic Police emphasized that the measures are necessary to manage heavy footfall and vehicular congestion around major temples and festival venues across the city.
