Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, has begun the admission process for a range of certificate, diploma, and postgraduate programmes in Indian and foreign languages offered through its Centre of Excellence for Multilingual Studies (CoEMS). The initiative is aimed at enhancing language proficiency and employability among students in an increasingly globalized world.
University officials said the programmes have been designed to equip students with practical communication skills and multilingual competence, enabling them to explore academic and professional opportunities both in India and abroad.
Among the foreign language offerings are one-year diploma programmes in German, French, Mandarin, and Spanish. The centre is also offering short-term certificate courses in Communicative Skills and English for Business. At the postgraduate level, students can enroll in M.A. programmes in Functional Hindi and Pali.
Candidates who have completed Class 12 are eligible for the diploma and certificate courses, while admission to the postgraduate programmes requires a bachelor’s degree.
Professor Anita Tyagi, Head of the Department and Coordinator of the Multilingual Centre, said that multilingual education is becoming increasingly important as industries seek professionals with strong communication and cross-cultural skills. Knowledge of international languages can open doors to careers in multinational corporations, tourism, international trade, translation and interpretation services, information technology, aviation, education, embassies, and global business operations.
She noted that under the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP), students now have the flexibility to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously. This allows them to combine their primary field of study with a language course, helping them acquire additional skills without extending their academic timeline.

According to the department, learning foreign languages not only improves career prospects but also strengthens confidence, communication abilities, cultural awareness, and global understanding. Exposure to different languages and cultures enables students to better adapt to international educational and professional environments.
The university has kept the course fees affordable to encourage wider participation. Interested applicants can submit their applications online through the university admission portal. The last date for submission of applications is June 15, 2026.
