New Delhi: Left-handed batter Tilak Varma has been appointed captain of the India A squad for the upcoming tri-nation One Day series to be held in Sri Lanka from June 9 to June 21. The tournament will feature India A, hosts Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A in a competitive multi-team limited-overs contest.
Young all-rounder Riyan Parag has been named vice-captain of the 15-member squad, which was announced by the senior men’s national selection committee.
One of the key talking points of the squad is the inclusion of 15-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who earns his maiden call-up to the India A setup. The youngster has been in sensational form, making headlines with rapid-fire performances in domestic and franchise cricket, including a record-breaking century in the IPL and consistent scoring in youth international cricket.
The squad also features several promising domestic performers such as Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, and wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh. All-round options include Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, and Suryansh Shedge, strengthening India A’s balance across departments.
The wicketkeeping responsibilities will be shared between Kumar Kushagra and Prabhsimran Singh, while the pace attack includes Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, and Arshad Khan.

India A will begin their campaign on June 9 against Sri Lanka A, followed by matches against Afghanistan A on June 11, and further league-stage fixtures against Sri Lanka A on June 15 and 17. The final of the tri-nation series is scheduled for June 21.
Alongside the ODI series, India A will also participate in multi-day red-ball fixtures against Sri Lanka A in Galle, offering a comprehensive developmental tour for emerging players.
The selection is seen as part of India’s continued effort to strengthen its bench strength and provide international exposure to emerging talent ahead of future senior-level commitments.
