Bareilly: Reinforcing its long-standing commitment to social welfare, State Bank of India (SBI) on Saturday donated an ambulance to Gangasheel Charitable Trust for patient services, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The ambulance was handed over at a programme organised at the SBI Bareilly Main Branch, aimed at strengthening healthcare support for the community
The ambulance was formally presented by SBI Managing Director Shri Rama Mohan Rao Amara, who reiterated the bank’s dedication towards uplifting vulnerable, disadvantaged and underprivileged sections of society. Addressing the gathering, he said that SBI has been committed to corporate social responsibility for over 200 years and continues to support initiatives that improve quality of life across communities
He highlighted that SBI regularly undertakes a wide range of CSR activities, including support to primary schools, old age homes, women’s shelters, orphanages, schools for the disabled, Anganwadi centres and Primary Health Centres (PHCs). The bank also contributes to upgrading public toilets, distributing sanitary pads and bicycles to girls’ schools, and extending assistance to local charitable and social institutions based on regional needs. Shri Amara affirmed that SBI will continue to fulfil its social responsibilities in the future as well
During the event, the SBI Managing Director also briefed attendees about the bank’s digital initiatives, including the upcoming version of its mobile banking application YONO 2.0, along with other advancements in SBI’s digital services ecosystem
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dipak Kumar De, Chief General Manager, SBI Lucknow Circle, said that as the “Bank of every Indian,” SBI is not only focused on providing banking and financial services but is equally committed to addressing social concerns and contributing to community development

The programme was attended by several senior SBI officials, including General Manager Shri Anil Kumar, Deputy General Manager Shri Suman Bakshi, and Regional Manager Shri Neeraj Kumar Rai. Dr. Shalini Maheshwari, Executive Director of Gangasheel Charitable Trust, along with other representatives of the Trust, were also present at the event. Senior officers and employees of the bank participated in large numbers, reflecting strong institutional support for the initiative
Following the donation ceremony, Shri Rama Mohan Rao Amara also planted a tree at the SBI Bareilly Main Branch, symbolising the bank’s commitment to environmental sustainability alongside social welfare
The donation of the ambulance is expected to significantly enhance emergency medical services provided by Gangasheel Charitable Trust, benefitting patients and strengthening healthcare delivery in the region
