Bareilly: Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Professor Anil Kumar Rai, held an interactive meeting with university teachers on Monday, discussing academic, educational, cultural and administrative matters and calling for a collective effort to take the institution to new heights.
The meeting provided a platform to review the university’s existing achievements, future potential, challenges and priorities, while encouraging faculty members to contribute their ideas towards strengthening the institution’s academic and overall development.
At the beginning of the programme, Registrar Mahendra Kumar Singh welcomed Vice-Chancellor Professor Anil Kumar Rai with a bouquet. Faculty members subsequently felicitated the Vice-Chancellor by presenting him with a shawl, flowers and a plant.
Addressing the interactive session, Professor Rai said students were the most important asset of any university and that the present generation of young people represented the future of the country and society.
“Our greatest responsibility is to provide students not only with knowledge but also with values, skills, sensitivity and a positive outlook,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor observed that every student, teacher and employee of the university possesses considerable talent and potential. The need, he said, was to channel these capabilities in the right direction through collective efforts and take the university towards new dimensions of progress.
Professor Rai highlighted the university’s achievements, including its NAAC A++ accreditation and performance in various rankings, and said the next objective should be to consolidate these accomplishments while continuously improving the university’s national and international rankings.
For this, he stressed the need for teachers, officers and employees to work together with dedication and a shared sense of purpose.
“Challenges are natural on the path of progress, but they are not meant to stop our journey. They provide an opportunity to recognise our capabilities and improve them,” Professor Rai said.
He urged faculty members to adopt a solution-oriented approach rather than focusing negatively on problems. According to him, every challenge could be transformed into an opportunity if approached with a mindset of improvement and constructive action.
Emphasising the importance of positive thinking, the Vice-Chancellor said an institution’s perception and outlook play a crucial role in its progress. He called for identifying shortcomings, continuously working to address them and developing a culture of regular practice and improvement.
“Where there appears to be the least scope for improvement, the greatest improvement can often be achieved through sustained effort,” he said, stressing the need for a positive and improvement-oriented approach towards university development.
Interacting with the faculty, Professor Rai said the progress of a university could never depend on the efforts of a single individual. Collective leadership, teamwork, transparency, positive thinking and continuous improvement were essential for institutional growth, he said.
He expressed confidence that the university could achieve new levels of development and excellence if its teachers and employees worked together towards common goals.
“Our objective should not merely be to preserve our achievements but to establish new benchmarks of excellence,” Professor Rai said. “If we work together, recognise one another’s capabilities and utilise them in the interest of the university, taking Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University to new heights will certainly be possible.”
