Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, organised a series of competitions on the theme “My Mother” as part of the celebrations for its 24th Convocation Ceremony, encouraging students to express their love, respect and gratitude towards their mothers through creative and literary activities.
The competitions were held under the guidance of Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel and Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh, following directives issued by Raj Bhavan, Lucknow. Students participated in painting, essay writing, speech and poetry competitions, presenting heartfelt tributes that reflected the values of love, sacrifice, compassion and inspiration embodied by mothers.
The initiative aimed to strengthen awareness of respect for mothers, family values, emotional sensitivity, creative expression and Indian cultural traditions among students. Through their artistic and literary presentations, participants conveyed that a mother is not only the foundation of the family but also a child’s first teacher and greatest source of inspiration.
In his message, Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh said that a mother is far more than the person who gives birth; she is the first guide in imparting values, compassion and life lessons. He noted that themes such as “My Mother” help students remain connected to their roots, families and India’s cultural heritage while nurturing creativity, confidence, sensitivity and effective communication skills essential for their holistic development.
Cultural Coordinator Dr. Jyoti Pandey said the competitions were organised at a school in Mudiya Ahmadnagar village, where students enthusiastically showcased their creativity and emotional expression. Their presentations vividly reflected feelings of love, reverence, sacrifice and dedication towards their mothers.

The successful organisation of the programme was made possible with the support of Registrar Mahendra Kumar Singh, Coordinator Prof. Sanjay Garg, Cultural Coordinator Dr. Jyoti Pandey, members of the Cultural Committee, Shyamala, Rahat Ali, along with teachers and students who actively contributed to the event.
The university said such initiatives reinforce the importance of family values and cultural traditions while providing students with meaningful opportunities to develop their creative talents and emotional intelligence.
