Lucknow Police Arrest ₹25,000 Rewarded Accused Rohit Singh After Intensive Search Operation

Lucknow: In a major breakthrough, the Lucknow Police arrested a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹25,000 after a coordinated operation by teams from Vikas Nagar and Ghazipur police stations.

The accused, identified as Rohit Singh, had been absconding for a prolonged period in connection with multiple criminal cases registered at Vikas Nagar and Ghazipur police stations. Police officials said continuous efforts were being made to trace him, while he allegedly kept changing locations to evade arrest.

Due to the seriousness of the cases and to facilitate public cooperation in locating him, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) had announced a cash reward of ₹25,000 for information leading to his arrest.

According to police officials, Rohit Singh, a resident of Janakipuram in Lucknow, was arrested on May 13, 2026, based on confidential inputs and local intelligence. The joint police operation was carried out near a tri-junction close to Late Virendra Pratap Singh Memorial Janata PG College in Kunda Bhairopur area of Sultanpur.

The arrest operation involved officers from Vikas Nagar Police Station along with Sub-Inspectors Rakesh Kumar Verma and Navneet Sharma from Ghazipur Police Station.

Police said the accused was wanted in multiple serious criminal cases, including allegations of fraud, organised criminal activity, extortion, violent assault, and attempted murder. Investigators alleged that Rohit Singh and his associates collectively cheated one complainant of nearly ₹17 lakh in one case, while in another incident they allegedly opened fire with the intention to kill.

Officials further stated that credible evidence had also emerged regarding his involvement in additional offences registered at Ghazipur Police Station.

Following his arrest, the accused was produced before a court and subsequently sent to judicial custody.

Police records indicate that Rohit Singh has a long criminal history spanning more than a decade, with cases registered at several police stations across Lucknow. The charges against him over the years include rioting, extortion, attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, cheating, gang-related activities, Arms Act violations, and offences under the Gangsters Act and SC/ST Act.

Authorities said the arrest was the result of sustained surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated field operations conducted by the police teams.

The operation was led by Alok Kumar Singh along with Sub-Inspector Muhammad Yasin, Sub-Inspector Bhanu Pratap Singh, Head Constable Rishi Kumar Tiwari, and Constable Raghvendra Pratap Singh, in coordination with officers from Ghazipur Police Station.

Senior police officials stated that the Commissionerate Police remains committed to taking strict action against organised criminals and repeat offenders operating in the city. They added that intensive monitoring and targeted operations against wanted criminals will continue in the coming months to strengthen law and order in the state capital.
