Lucknow: A woman was safely rescued by the Uttar Pradesh Police after she allegedly attempted suicide following a domestic dispute in the Nigohan area of Lucknow on Tuesday.
According to police officials, the incident took place in Rampur Garhi village under Nigohan police station limits on May 13, 2026. Police received information that a woman had locked herself inside a room and was attempting to take her own life after an argument with her husband over domestic issues.
Acting swiftly, the Nigohan police team, along with members of the Mission Shakti team, immediately rushed to the spot. Officials said the woman had allegedly attempted to hang herself after closing the room from inside.
Without wasting time, the police personnel broke open the door and safely rescued the woman, preventing a serious tragedy.
Following the rescue, the woman, her husband, and family members were brought to the police station, where officials conducted preliminary questioning. Police stated that the matter appeared to be related to a domestic disagreement between the couple.
The Mission Shakti team counselled both the woman and her husband and encouraged them to resolve disputes peacefully and maintain mutual understanding in the future. After counselling, both sides reportedly assured officials that they would avoid further conflict and try to maintain harmony at home.

The woman was later safely handed over to her family members.
The prompt response and sensitive handling of the situation by the Nigohan police team were appreciated by local residents, who praised the officers for saving the woman’s life and resolving the matter calmly.
The police team involved in the rescue operation included Sub-Inspector Anand Pratap Singh, woman Sub-Inspector Gayatri, Constable Dunendra Kumar, and woman constable Pooja Saxena.
Police officials reiterated the importance of counselling, family support, and timely intervention in emotionally stressful situations and urged people facing personal distress to seek help rather than take extreme steps.
