Mission Shakti 5.0 Awareness Drive Held in Lucknow to Promote Women’s Safety and Cyber Security

Lucknow: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate organised a large-scale Mission Shakti 5.0 and cyber awareness programme at Rampal Trivedi Inter College on May 13, 2026, with the aim of educating women and students about safety, legal rights, and protection against cyber crimes.

The awareness campaign was conducted under the leadership of trainee IPS officer Sarika Chaudhary and Station House Officer D K Singh. Around 150 to 200 students participated enthusiastically in the programme.

The initiative was organised under the guidance of Amrendra Kumar Sengar and Deputy Commissioner of Police South Amit Kumar Anand, along with supervision from Additional DCP South Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rishabh Yadav.

Addressing the students, trainee IPS officer Sarika Chaudhary said the Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, launched as part of the state government’s women empowerment initiative, aims to create a safer, more self-reliant, and empowered environment for women and girls.

Inspector D.K. Singh encouraged students to remain alert and aware of activities happening around them, stating that awareness itself is a major step toward empowerment and personal safety.

Mission Shakti in-charge woman Sub-Inspector Sonam Rai guided girl students on how to respond calmly in difficult situations and encouraged them to make use of emergency police services whenever required.

During the session, students were informed in detail about important emergency helplines, including Women Power Line 1090, Emergency Service 112, Chief Minister Helpline 1076, Child Helpline 1098, and National Cyber Helpline 1930.

The programme also included an interactive awareness session on cyber safety. Inspector D.K. Singh and Cyber Cell in-charge Sub-Inspector Divyanshu Tiwari educated students about safe use of social media and precautions against online fraud.

Students were advised not to share OTPs, bank details, passwords, or personal photographs with unknown individuals online. Police officials also explained the procedure for reporting cyber fraud incidents through the national cyber crime helpline.

Adding an interactive element to the event, a question was asked about the name of India’s first woman IPS officer. Class 12 student Shraddha Rawat correctly answered “Kiran Bedi” and was awarded a cash prize of ₹500 for her prompt response.

Police officials stated that similar awareness drives will continue across educational institutions and public places in the region to strengthen awareness about women’s safety, cyber security, and legal rights among young people.

The campaign also focused on issues such as women’s empowerment, digital literacy, good touch and bad touch awareness, and the role of Mission Shakti centres in providing counselling, legal assistance, and support services.

Officials said the initiative aims to build a safer social environment where women and children can live, study, and grow without fear, while also encouraging community participation in promoting safety and responsible digital behaviour.
