Bareilly: The Cultural Centre of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, delivered an outstanding performance at the District Youth Festival, winning 11 prizes across all eight competitions in which its students participated. The haul included six first prizes, four second prizes and one third prize, with 11 students from the six first-place winning categories selected to represent Bareilly district at the upcoming state-level Youth Festival.
The District Youth Festival was organised on August 18 at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University by the MY Bharat Centre under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The theme of the festival was “Drug-Free Youth for Developed India”.

A range of competitions were organised, including folk dance, street play, folk music, painting, speech, slogan writing, reel/short-film making and slam poetry. Students of the university’s Cultural Centre and Cultural Club participated enthusiastically in all eight categories, showcasing their creativity, originality and artistic abilities.
The university’s street play team secured both first and second prizes in the competition. The team comprised Shrey, Akshita Parashar, Lavi Singh, Raghav, Divyansh, Pragati Mishra and Pranav Bhatt. Through their performance, the students conveyed a strong message against substance abuse and encouraged young people to adopt a drug-free lifestyle. Their presentation received widespread appreciation from both the audience and the judging panel.
In folk music, Drishti secured first place, while Sunaina Saxena won first prize in slam poetry. Abhay Singh stood first in the speech competition, Shraddha Sharma secured first place in slogan writing, while Ritika Patel won second place in the same category.
In painting, Muskan Sharma secured first position and Sakshi Patel stood second. In reel-making, Inaam Khan won second place, while Prisha Verma secured second position in folk dance.
With prizes secured in every competition in which it participated, the Cultural Centre established a strong presence at the district-level festival. The selection of 11 students from six winning categories for the state-level competition has further added to the university’s achievement.
Congratulating the students, Vice-Chancellor Prof KP Singh said the university’s Cultural Centre has consistently encouraged students to participate in youth festivals and other cultural activities. He said students have been bringing recognition to the university through their performances and achievements.

Prof Singh highlighted the role of the Music Club, Dance Club, Drama Club, Yoga Club and Literary Club in providing students with platforms to express their talent and originality. He appreciated their active participation in street plays, folk dance, folk music, short films, slam poetry, speeches, painting and slogan writing.
He described winning 11 prizes in eight competitions as a significant achievement and said the selection of students for state-level competitions was a proud moment for Rohilkhand University. He extended his best wishes to all selected students for further success at the state and national levels.
State Women’s Commission member Pushpa Pandey, who attended the event as a special guest, presented awards to the winners. Appreciating the students, she said the Cultural Centre’s participants were highly talented and had demonstrated impressive performances across all eight competitions. She also praised the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Prof KP Singh and Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey for providing students with appropriate platforms to showcase their abilities.
Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey said students were prepared for all eight competitions in accordance with the guidelines received from the MY Bharat Centre and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. She said the achievement reflected the originality, creativity and dedication of the Cultural Club students.
Dr Pandey noted that the Cultural Centre’s participation in all eight competitions and its achievement of 11 awards—six first, four second and one third—was particularly significant. She said 11 students associated with the six first-place categories would now represent Bareilly district at the state-level Youth Festival.
