Gonda: In a major enforcement drive aimed at ensuring the safe and regulated transportation of school children, the Transport Department conducted a special inspection campaign across the district in coordination with a joint enforcement team. Several school vehicles were thoroughly checked, and strict action was taken against those found violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
During the inspection, officials seized a school vehicle that was operating without registration and a valid permit. The vehicle was taken into custody with immediate effect for serious violations of transport regulations.
In addition, a total of nine school vehicles were fined during the campaign for various violations. Authorities found several deficiencies, including the absence of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), lack of valid insurance coverage, drivers operating without valid driving licences, and failure to comply with other mandatory documentation and safety requirements. Appropriate action was taken against the violators in accordance with the law.
ARTO (Administration) R.C. Bhartiya stated that ensuring compliance with safety standards in school transportation remains a top priority for the Transport Department. He emphasized that no school vehicle operating in violation of rules and regulations would be spared from action.
He directed school managements and vehicle owners to keep all vehicle-related documents updated and ensure strict adherence to prescribed safety norms. The department has also warned that vehicles found lacking essential documents, having technical defects, or compromising student safety will face stringent legal action.
The ARTO further said that such enforcement drives will continue regularly across the district to strengthen road safety and ensure secure transportation for school children.
The Transport Department has also appealed to parents to ensure that their children travel only in school vehicles that comply with prescribed safety standards and legal requirements, thereby safeguarding students from avoidable risks during their daily commute.
