Kanpur: Cricket fever is set to return to Kanpur’s historic Green Park Stadium, with the Uttar Pradesh T20 League scheduled to host its main matches and playoff fixtures in the city from August 28 to September 6.

In a special initiative aimed at attracting young spectators, particularly female students, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has introduced an affordable ticket priced at just ₹49 for girls. The initiative is expected to encourage more students and young cricket fans to experience live cricket at the stadium.

League chairman Dr Sanjay Kapoor said on Friday that Green Park will host 12 matches over 11 days, beginning with the opening fixture on the evening of August 28.

Ticket prices have been kept accessible across various stands. The B Girls Stand ticket will cost ₹49 and will be available only through offline sales. Tickets for the B General, C Stall and E Public Stands have been priced at ₹99, while C Balcony tickets will cost ₹149.

Tickets for the A Ground Pavilion and Pavilion Ground will be available for ₹199, while D Chair tickets will cost ₹249. Tickets for the New Players Pavilion (second floor), A Balcony, Pavilion Balcony and VIP Pavilion have been priced at ₹349.

Online ticket sales have begun through the District Zomato app.

The organisers have also planned several attractions and rewards for spectators. Around 100 prizes are expected to be distributed daily during the tournament.

Under the “Catch of the Match” initiative, a spectator who catches a six-hit ball in the stands will receive a cash prize of ₹5,100. In addition, around 200 consolation prizes will be distributed every day under the “Jo Aayega Woh Paayega” initiative.

A mega lucky draw will be held during the final, with spectators getting a chance to win electronic products including televisions, refrigerators and washing machines. The “Fan of the Match” will receive a cricket ball signed by the captain of the winning team.

According to UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta, the Uttar Pradesh T20 League will be broadcast live in more than 200 countries, giving the competition an international audience.

For fans attending the matches in Kanpur, the tournament also promises an opportunity to watch several prominent Indian players in action. Rinku Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sameer Rizvi, Dhruv Jurel and Karan Sharma are among the star names expected to feature in the league.

With affordable tickets, fan rewards and the presence of established and emerging cricketing talent, the UP T20 League is expected to turn Green Park into a major cricketing hub in Kanpur during the tournament.
