Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh chaired a review meeting with nodal officers designated for field inspections under the Jal Jeevan Mission at the Collectorate auditorium to assess the progress of the scheme and address issues related to rural drinking water supply.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the implementation status of the mission, the quality of ongoing works, and complaints received regarding drinking water supply in various parts of the district.
Expressing concern over the pace of progress, the District Magistrate directed Sunil Kumar Singh, Executive Engineer of the Rural Water Corporation, to personally verify deficiencies identified by nodal officers during inspections and ensure their timely rectification. He noted that the district’s performance under the Jal Jeevan Mission was not satisfactory and that concerns regarding the scheme’s implementation had also been raised at the state level.
The District Magistrate pointed out that repair work on several overhead water tanks remains pending, while complaints of inadequate or disrupted water supply continue to be received from multiple villages. He instructed concerned officials to address all such issues on priority and ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to rural households.
Emphasizing the need for effective monitoring, he directed Junior Engineers and nodal officers to maintain close coordination so that deficiencies can be identified and resolved promptly. He also instructed officials to prepare block-wise progress reports and make them available to all nodal officers for better supervision and accountability.
The review focused on strengthening the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and ensuring that the scheme achieves its objective of providing safe and reliable tap water connections to rural residents.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer (Rural Water Corporation) Sunil Kumar Singh, all designated nodal officers, and other concerned departmental officials.
