Western Zone Police Intensify Preparations for Muharram in Lucknow

Lucknow: With Muharram approaching, the Lucknow Police’s Western Zone has stepped up preparations to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of all religious events and processions.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Kamlesh Dixit held a key meeting with office-bearers of various mourning organizations (Anjumans) in the Shahadatganj area. The meeting was attended by Additional DCP (West), ACP Chowk, ACP Bazar Khala, and several other senior police officials.

During the interaction, officials emphasized the importance of conducting all Muharram-related programs in a peaceful, traditional, and orderly manner. Representatives of the Anjumans were instructed to begin processions at the scheduled time, strictly follow the designated routes, and ensure timely completion of events.

Police officials also discussed crowd management strategies, security arrangements, and special precautions for sensitive locations. Organizers were urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order throughout the observance.

The administration appealed to the public and organizers to remain vigilant against rumors and misleading information, particularly on social media platforms. Participants were advised to immediately contact local police authorities in case of any issue or emergency.

Representatives of the Anjumans assured the administration of their full cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that Muharram observances are conducted peacefully and with communal harmony.

The meeting forms part of the city police’s broader efforts to strengthen coordination with community stakeholders and ensure a safe and secure environment during the upcoming Muharram period.
