“Stranger Things” Team Cautious Ahead of Final Season, Hopes to Avoid ‘Game of Thrones’-Style Backlash

Los Angeles– As Netflix’s sci-fi hit “Stranger Things” approaches its fifth and final season, the cast and crew are cautiously preparing for fan reactions, hoping to deliver a satisfying conclusion without sparking controversy.

Actor Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, admitted that the team feels the weight of expectation. “The team is aware of the pressure that comes with wrapping up such a massive show,” Wolfhard said. “I think everyone was pretty worried, honestly. We’re all going into this thinking, ‘We want to not have that type of thing happen,’ because of how Game of Thrones was received in its final season.”

The final season of Game of Thrones in 2019 faced intense backlash from fans unhappy with its pacing and character arcs. Learning from that, the Stranger Things team is focusing on delivering an emotionally rich and fulfilling finale.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Season Four of Stranger Things was among the most expensive TV productions ever, costing nearly $30 million per episode. The final season is set to be even more extravagant, with each episode’s budget estimated between $50 million and $60 million.

The final season will be released in three parts over the holiday season: Volume 1 (four episodes) on November 26, Volume 2 (three episodes) on Christmas, and the series finale on New Year’s Eve. Created by the Duffer Brothers and produced by 21 Laps Entertainment and Upside Down Pictures, the show also lists Dan Cohen and Shawn Levy as executive producers.

With the stakes higher than ever, the team is determined to give fans a memorable and satisfying conclusion to the beloved series.
