New Delhi: A group of trainee officers from the Indian Railway Management Service (Traffic), Indian Railway Protection Force Service, and Indian Railway Management Service (Accounts) called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Addressing the young officers, the President highlighted the crucial role of Indian Railways in the daily lives of millions of citizens. She noted that a significant portion of the country depends on rail transport every day, making railway services integral to mobility and economic growth. Emphasising their future responsibilities, she urged the officers to work towards enhancing efficiency, service delivery, and overall effectiveness of the रेलवे system, describing them as key agents of change in nation-building.
The President also underlined that railway services directly influence the quality of life of a large population, and advised the officers to remain committed to public service with integrity and dedication.
On the occasion, Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar briefed the President on the significant progress made in railway infrastructure over the past decade. He also outlined ongoing projects aimed at modernising the network and contributing to the vision of a self-reliant India.

Two probationary officers of the Indian Railway Management Service (Traffic), Dr. Deepsha Bhattacharya and Pranjal Jain, presented a brief overview of their training and expressed their commitment to contributing towards the goal of a developed India.
Senior officials present during the interaction included Member (Finance), Railway Board, Manjusha Jain; Director General (HR), Railway Board, Aruna Nair; Director General of RPF Sonali Mishra; Director General of the Indian Institute of Transport Management, Ranjan Prakash Thakur; Director General of IRIFM, Secunderabad, Aparna Garg; and IG-cum-Director of the Jagjivan Ram RPF Academy, B. Venkateshwar Rao, along with other senior Railway Board officials.
The interaction underscored the importance of leadership, innovation, and commitment among the next generation of railway officers in shaping the future of India’s transport backbone.
