MJPRU Launches Three New Specialized LL.M. Programmes with Focus on Cyber and Corporate Law

Bareilly: The Department of Law at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU) has announced the introduction of three new specialized and career-oriented LL.M. programmes from the academic session 2026-27. The courses have been approved following permission from Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and the consent of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. P. Singh.

The newly introduced programmes are LL.M. in Cyber Law, LL.M. in Business and Corporate Law, and LL.M. Executive, designed to meet the evolving demands of the legal profession and industry.

According to Dean and Head of the Department of Law, Prof. Amit Singh, the two-year LL.M. in Cyber Law has been specially developed to address the challenges of the digital era. The programme covers contemporary subjects such as Data Protection Law, Information Technology Act, Artificial Intelligence and Law, Cyber Crime, Digital Evidence, and International Cyber Law Frameworks. The course carries 96 credits and a fee of ₹30,000 per semester, with the objective of producing skilled cyber law practitioners and legal consultants.

The one-year LL.M. in Business and Corporate Law has been tailored to meet the needs of the corporate sector. Featuring 48 credits and a fee of ₹40,000 per semester, the programme includes subjects such as WTO regulations, SEBI regulations, the SARFAESI Act, Competition Law, E-commerce Legal Frameworks, Banking and Insurance Law, and Financial Management. The course is expected to benefit aspiring corporate lawyers, legal advisors, and company secretaries.

The third programme, LL.M. Executive, has been designed specifically for working professionals, including advocates, judicial officers, bankers, corporate executives, and other law graduates employed in various sectors. To accommodate professionals, the university has introduced evening classes, online and offline learning options, and a hybrid mode of instruction. The curriculum consists of an equal blend of practical and theoretical learning, enabling professionals to pursue higher legal education without interrupting their careers.

University officials said all three programmes have been structured in accordance with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aim to provide students with opportunities beyond traditional legal practice by opening pathways in emerging and specialized legal fields.

The university has uploaded detailed eligibility criteria and admission guidelines on its admission portal. Candidates are required to complete an online registration by paying a registration fee of ₹150, followed by an entrance examination fee of ₹900. The last date for applications is June 15, 2026, while the entrance examination is tentatively scheduled for June 27, 2026. The 90-minute test will be conducted at designated examination centres, and admit cards will be available for download through the admission portal.

Highlighting the department’s legacy, Prof. Amit Singh noted that the Law Department, established in 1987, has been a major contributor to legal education for nearly four decades. The department has produced over 400 UGC-NET qualifiers, around 70 judicial officers, and more than 500 university and college teachers. At present, it offers 11 academic programmes, with over 450 students and 62 research scholars pursuing studies and research under the guidance of 18 faculty members.

With the launch of these new programmes, MJPRU aims to strengthen its position as a leading centre for advanced legal education while equipping students and professionals with expertise in high-demand areas such as cyber law, corporate governance, and digital regulation.
