Free HPV Vaccination Camp Held at Jan Bhavan, 96 Girls Immunised

Lucknow: Under the guidance and vision of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, a free HPV vaccination camp was organised at Jan Bhavan in Lucknow. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with King George’s Medical University (KGMU).

The camp benefitted students of Adarsh Madhyamik Vidyalaya, daughters of teachers and staff, as well as girls from the Balika Grih in Sindhi Khera. A total of 96 girls were administered the HPV vaccine during the programme.

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine plays a crucial role in protecting against infections that can lead to cervical cancer, one of the most serious health risks for women. The initiative is being seen as a significant step toward ensuring the long-term health and safety of young girls through preventive healthcare.

The programme reflects the Governor’s emphasis on the principle that prevention is better than cure, and her continued focus on safeguarding women’s health. She has consistently advocated awareness and timely vaccination as effective measures to prevent life-threatening diseases such as cancer.

During the camp, health experts also conducted awareness sessions, educating participants about the importance of the HPV vaccine and its long-term benefits.

The event was attended by Officer on Special Duty to the Governor Dr Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Special Secretary to the Governor Shriprakash Gupta, KGMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Sonia Nityanand, along with teachers, Raj Bhavan officials, and other dignitaries.
