BAREILLY: With a ribbon-cutting at the sub-mandi complex in Nawabganj tehsil, local MLA Dr. M.P. Arya and District Magistrate Avinash Singh formally opened a “Kanwar Village” built to give Kanwar Yatra pilgrims somewhere comfortable to rest and regroup along their route.
The District Magistrate said the village comes equipped with pretty much everything a pilgrim might need — a welcome gate, a rest house, panchakarma facilities, a prayer area, a stand for kanwars, fruit and light-meal counters, a community kitchen (bhandara), a flower-shower entrance, and even a selfie point.
The goal, he said, was to create an atmosphere where pilgrims feel almost as comfortable as they would at home. On the security side, the entire complex will be monitored through a combination of CCTV cameras and drones.
The DM walked through the facility himself and instructed officials to keep pilgrim comfort, security, cleanliness and essential services running smoothly throughout the yatra, calling the initiative an innovative and commendable effort by the tehsil administration.
From there, the District Magistrate moved on to the Baba Gopeshwar Nath Temple at the Delapeer mandi complex, where he cut the ribbon on a newly installed RO water cooler set up for the convenience of kanwariyas, pilgrims and the general public. He then offered prayers at the Shiv temple on the premises, following proper ritual, praying for the welfare and prosperity of the district and its people.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nawabganj Sachin Yadav, Mandi Secretary Santosh Kumar, and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
