Major Joint Rescue Drive Launched in Bareilly to Identify and Rehabilitate Destitute and Vulnerable Individuals

Bareilly: A large-scale joint special operation was conducted across Bareilly district to identify, rescue, rehabilitate, and connect destitute, homeless, and protection-deprived individuals with government welfare schemes. The campaign was carried out in compliance with directions issued by the Allahabad High Court in Public Interest Litigation (PIL) No. 571/2024, Jyoti Rajput vs. State of Uttar Pradesh & Others.

The initiative was undertaken under the guidance of District Magistrate Avinash Singh and District Probation Officer Monika Rana as part of the ongoing Operation Mukti campaign.

The joint operation saw active participation from Child Helpline 1098, Women Helpline 181, the District Child Protection Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), the Labour Department, Social Welfare Department, Health Department, Mamta Shelter Home, and the Government Railway Police (GRP).

During the drive, teams conducted extensive inspections at the railway station, Satellite Bus Stand, Roadways Bus Station, major intersections, public places, and other sensitive locations. Officials identified homeless individuals, beggars, children engaged in or vulnerable to child labour, women in distress, and persons suspected of being victims of human trafficking.

Authorities provided immediate assistance wherever required, including counseling, medical support, and shelter arrangements. Identified individuals were referred to appropriate care facilities, while efforts were also initiated to trace their families and facilitate family reintegration and long-term rehabilitation.

As part of the awareness campaign, officials informed citizens about key emergency and support helplines, including Child Helpline 1098, Women Helpline 181, CM Helpline 1076, Women Power Line 1090, Emergency Response Support System 112, and Cyber Helpline 1930. Residents were urged to promptly report any child, woman, or individual found in distress, abandoned, homeless, or suspected of being a victim of trafficking.

District authorities emphasized that such coordinated rescue and rehabilitation drives will continue on a regular basis to ensure timely protection and support for vulnerable individuals. The administration also reiterated its commitment to combating social evils such as human trafficking, child labour, and begging through sustained intervention and welfare measures.
