New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated a range of advanced defence technologies through a series of critical flight-tests conducted on June 10 and 11, 2026, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in next-generation warfare and missile defence systems.
The trials highlighted India’s strengthened ability to counter diverse aerial and maritime threats, including long-range ballistic missiles and hostile naval targets, reinforcing the country’s progress toward a robust, multi-layered defence architecture.
According to officials, three consecutive flight-tests were carried out to validate key systems designed to enhance strategic deterrence and operational readiness. A major highlight of the demonstrations was the successful validation of a multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability, where interceptor systems effectively engaged and neutralised their designated targets with high precision.
The tests demonstrated advanced technologies developed to address emerging and complex missile threats, further strengthening India’s indigenous defence ecosystem. With these successful trials, India has moved closer to joining an elite group of nations capable of intercepting threats up to the level of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs), officials noted.
In a parallel development, the maiden flight-test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Medium Range (NASM-MR) was also successfully conducted, marking a significant milestone in enhancing India’s maritime strike capabilities. The system is designed to improve precision engagement of enemy naval assets at medium ranges.

The trials were closely monitored by senior officials from the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the armed forces, reflecting strong coordination between defence research agencies and operational stakeholders.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and its partner agencies for the successful demonstrations, praising their contribution to strengthening national security and self-reliance in critical defence technologies.
Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO, Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, also reviewed the tests and commended the collaborative efforts of scientists, engineers, and industry partners involved in the successful execution of the trials.
Officials stated that these achievements underline India’s accelerating progress in indigenous defence innovation and its commitment to building cutting-edge systems capable of addressing evolving global security challenges.
