Bareilly District Administration Assigns Responsibilities to Ensure Successful Pulse Polio Campaign 2026

Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh has directed all concerned departments to actively participate in the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio National Immunization Drive (NID) 2026, which is scheduled to continue until July 6, 2026, including the B-Team phase. Detailed responsibilities have been assigned to various departments to ensure maximum coverage of children under five years of age across the district.

According to the District Magistrate, coordinated efforts by multiple government departments and community organizations are essential to achieve the campaign’s objective of protecting every eligible child against polio.

Extensive Awareness Campaign Planned

To enhance public awareness, the Municipal Corporation has been instructed to conduct intensive publicity through door-to-door awareness vehicles, public address systems installed at major intersections, and LED display boards across the district. The initiative aims to inform parents and guardians about the importance of administering polio drops to children below five years of age.

Tehsil-Level Task Forces to Monitor Progress

All Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) have been directed to convene meetings of Tehsil Task Force Committees under their supervision, involving officials from various departments. Revenue officials, including lekhpals, have been instructed to work with local influential community members to persuade families who may initially refuse vaccination and ensure that all eligible children receive polio drops.

Schools and Anganwadi Centres to Play Key Role

The District Basic Education Officer has been directed to ensure that all primary and upper primary schools serving as Pulse Polio booths remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Booth Day, scheduled for June 28, 2026.

Schools will organize awareness rallies and mobilization drives to encourage parents to bring children under five years of age to vaccination booths. Mid-day meals will also be provided at schools hosting Pulse Polio booths.

The administration has further instructed Anganwadi workers and assistants to ensure that all registered children aged three to five years receive the vaccine. Mothers of children under five will be motivated and counseled about the importance of timely immunization.

Supervisors to Ensure Effective Coordination

Officials serving as supervisors in the Pulse Polio campaign, including personnel from the Basic Education Department, Panchayati Raj institutions, Urban Local Bodies, Supply Department, Minority Welfare Department, Revenue Department, and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), have been tasked with monitoring field activities and coordinating with local ASHA workers and vaccination teams.

Supervisors will also be responsible for resolving operational challenges and ensuring smooth implementation at village and ward levels through coordination with grassroots functionaries.

Medical Community to Support Campaign

The President and Secretary of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have been requested to support the campaign by adopting 50 Pulse Polio booths in urban areas and 10 booths in each development block in coordination with medical officers in charge.

As part of awareness and motivation efforts, participating organizations will distribute whistles, balls, toffees, biscuits, and other small gifts to children visiting vaccination booths.

Administration Committed to Polio-Free Future

District Magistrate Avinash Singh emphasized that achieving complete immunization coverage is critical to maintaining India’s polio-free status. He called upon all departments, healthcare workers, educational institutions, community leaders, and citizens to work together to ensure that no child is left out of the campaign.

The district administration expects the coordinated effort to significantly strengthen public participation and contribute to the successful implementation of Pulse Polio Campaign 2026 across Bareilly.
