Lucknow: The declaration of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026 re-examination results sparked celebrations across Lucknow, with students delivering outstanding performances on the national stage. While impressive All India Ranks (AIRs) dominated the headlines, this year’s results also brought to the fore inspiring stories of resilience, sacrifice and unwavering determination. From top achievers nurtured by leading coaching institutes to a young woman whose dream of becoming a doctor was born out of personal tragedy, Lucknow’s NEET success reflected the many faces of excellence.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the re-examination on June 21 after cancelling the original May 3 test following allegations of a paper leak. The revised results ended months of uncertainty for lakhs of aspirants and paved the way for the medical admissions process.
Leading Lucknow’s honours list was Shrinarayan Hari Mishra of Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), who secured All India Rank 105, making him the city’s highest-ranked candidate. Describing the result as a dream fulfilled, Shrinarayan credited his parents for their unwavering support and his teachers for their continuous guidance. He said regular mock tests, detailed performance analysis, structured classroom learning and doubt-solving sessions strengthened his concepts and kept him focused throughout his preparation. The achievement, he said, has further motivated him to pursue his dream of becoming a successful doctor.
Congratulating the student, Dhananjay Kumar Mishra, Regional Director, AESL, said Shrinarayan’s discipline, consistency and eagerness to learn set him apart and made the entire Aakash Lucknow family proud.
Aakash’s success extended well beyond its city topper. Other high achievers included Suraj Kumar (AIR 275), Sourish Tiwari (AIR 308), Mohammad Ali (AIR 535), Mohit Raj (AIR 1111) and Jayant Jain (AIR 1312). Nationally, AESL reported four students in the Top 10, 18 in the Top 50 and 41 in the Top 100, reaffirming its reputation as one of India’s leading medical entrance coaching institutions. The institute attributed the results to its blend of expert faculty, scientifically designed study material, AI-driven performance analytics, regular assessments and personalised mentoring.
ALLEN Career Institute, Lucknow, also celebrated an exceptional performance. Classroom student Shivansh Anand secured 687 marks and AIR 152, while Yasir Athar followed with AIR 157. The institute’s top performers also included Soumya Gupta (AIR 345), Mohit Srivastava (AIR 550), Chinmay Krishna (AIR 569) and Shavez Alam (AIR 738), with six classroom students finishing among the country’s Top 1000.
According to Pankaj Agrawal, Vice President, ALLEN, the institute once again demonstrated its academic excellence at the national level. Aryan Gupta and Panshul Bansal jointly scored 715 out of 720, with Aryan securing AIR 1 under the tie-breaker rules and Panshul finishing AIR 2. Ayush Bhalotiya secured AIR 4, Aryan Dubey achieved AIR 7, while Gaurav Singh earned AIR 9. Overall, ALLEN recorded five students in the Top 10, 10 in the Top 20, 23 in the Top 50 and 46 in the Top 100. Of the 138 candidates nationwide scoring 690 marks or above, 63 were associated with ALLEN, including 50 classroom students.
Lucknow’s success extended beyond coaching institute statistics. Reports indicated that 12 students from the city scored over 650 marks, reaffirming the state’s capital as an emerging centre for medical entrance preparation.
Yet, among the celebrations, one story resonated far beyond rankings.
Neelu, a young aspirant from Lucknow, transformed personal loss into purpose. She lost her father to illness while studying in Class 8 because the family could not afford proper medical treatment. The tragedy became the defining moment of her life.
Determined that no family should lose a loved one because of financial hardship, she resolved to become a doctor.
After her father’s death, the responsibility of raising four daughters fell on her mother, Rajkumari, who worked as a hospital assistant while also cleaning homes to supplement the family’s income. Despite earning only ₹10,000-11,000 a month, she ensured that her daughter’s education never stopped.
Neelu studied at Prerna Girls School, where her academic potential earned her a scholarship to Study Hall School in Class 11. She scored 86 per cent in Class 10 and 94 per cent in the CBSE Class 12 examinations. Her talent also secured her the prestigious Vahani Scholarship, awarded annually to only 50 exceptional students across India, covering her medical education and related academic expenses.
