World Psoriasis Day Observed at Lohia Institute; Public Awareness Campaign Held on Skin Health

Lucknow | The Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, observed World Psoriasis Day  with an extensive public awareness campaign organized by the Department of Dermatology. The initiative aimed to educate people about psoriasis, its causes, preventive measures, and available treatment options.

During the awareness session, dermatologists explained that psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disorder that leads to inflammation and scaling of the skin, often accompanied by discomfort and social stigma. Experts urged patients not to ignore early symptoms and to seek timely medical advice for effective management.

The session was led by dermatology specialists including Dr. Saumya Agrawal, Dr. Sonal Singh, Dr. Ketaki, Dr. Prakriti, Dr. Pragya Mishra, Dr. Pooja Singh, and Dr. Mayuresh Gavaskar, who addressed the audience and clarified common misconceptions associated with the condition. They also responded to patient queries and emphasized lifestyle management, stress reduction, and regular medical follow-ups as key to controlling the disease.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Institute Director Dr. C.M. Singh, in the presence of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vikram Singh, Dean Dr. Pradyumna Singh, Executive Secretary Dr. Subrata Chandra, and Dr. Swastika Suvaria. Faculty members and staff of the Department of Dermatology also participated actively in the program.

The institute reiterated its commitment to promoting community health awareness through such initiatives and encouraged citizens to adopt early diagnosis and scientific treatment approaches for skin-related disorders like psoriasis.
