Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s tax and non-tax revenue collections showed a strong upward trend in July 2026, in a sign of the state’s improving fiscal health. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced that the state collected ₹21,754 crore from major revenue heads during the month, compared to ₹18,394 crore in the same period last year — a year-on-year jump of ₹3,360 crore.
According to figures shared by the minister, cumulative tax revenue for the 2026-27 financial year, up to July, stood at ₹82,406.48 crore against a target of ₹1,11,010.17 crore. That puts the state at 74.2 percent of its projected collection for the period so far.
Breaking down the numbers, GST collections for July touched ₹7,821 crore, up from ₹6,949 crore a year earlier — a rise of ₹872 crore. VAT revenue also grew, climbing to ₹3,268 crore from ₹2,819 crore. Excise collections added ₹699 crore over last year to reach ₹5,053 crore, taking the state to 95.3 percent of its monthly target in that category.
Stamp duty and registration revenue posted one of the sharpest gains, rising by ₹1,125 crore to ₹4,237 crore. Transport revenue came in at ₹1,113 crore, comfortably clearing its monthly target at 100.6 percent. The one area of decline was geology and mining, where revenue slipped slightly to ₹262 crore from ₹299 crore in July 2025.

Khanna noted that the state’s cumulative numbers for the year so far have also stayed strong. Excise revenue has reached ₹20,865.08 crore, or 95.7 percent of its target, while stamp and registration collections stand at ₹12,451.46 crore, or 80.2 percent of target. Transport revenue has already crossed its target, bringing in ₹4,781.23 crore against a goal of ₹4,742.40 crore — a completion rate of 100.8 percent.
The Finance Minister thanked taxpayers for the sustained growth in collections, crediting it to the state’s expanding economy, transparent tax administration, disciplined financial management, and effective revenue collection systems.
