Samajwadi Mazdoor Sabha Felicitates Workers on Labour Day in Jaunpur

Lucknow/Jaunpur: Marking International Workers’ Day, the Samajwadi Mazdoor Sabha organised a grand ceremony to honour workers employed at a brick kiln unit, Prince Eat Industry, located in Lala Bazar, Jaunpur.

The programme was presided over by District President Manoj Kumar Sharma, while National General Secretary Amit Yadav attended as the chief guest. National Secretary Dr Ajay Yadav was present as the guest of honour. The event was conducted by District General Secretary Vishal Kanojia.

Several prominent individuals, including Sadik Ali, Ramashankar Chauhan, Dheeraj Singh, Dhirendra Singh, Rajbahadur Yadav, and Achhelal Yadav, were also present. Workers were felicitated with garlands as a mark of respect, followed by distribution of मिठाई among attendees.

Focus on Workers’ Rights and Welfare

Addressing the gathering, Amit Yadav extended Labour Day greetings to workers and highlighted the historical struggles that led to the establishment of the eight-hour workday. He alleged that recent labour policies favour industrialists and undermine workers’ rights, adding that the organisation would continue to oppose such measures.

He further emphasised the need for inclusive representation in governance, stating that efforts are being made to ensure participation of all sections of society, including women workers from marginalised communities.

Referring to Akhilesh Yadav, he noted that the demand for greater political representation of women from OBC, SC, ST, and minority communities has been raised at the national level.

Call for Release of Detained Workers

The Sabha also demanded the immediate release of workers and labour leaders who were recently detained during protests, terming it a matter of concern for labour rights.

Workers Pledge Unity

At the conclusion of the programme, workers collectively pledged to remain united in safeguarding their rights and to continue raising their voices democratically against policies they perceive as unfavourable to labour welfare.

The event underscored the importance of solidarity and collective action among workers, while reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to advocating for labour rights and social justice.
