Sai’s Krish Named Captain of UP Team for 39th National Sub-Junior Boys’ Handball Championship

Lucknow: Krish from Sports Authority of India (SAI) has been named captain of the Uttar Pradesh handball team for the upcoming 39th National Sub-Junior Boys’ Handball Championship, scheduled to be held in Odisha from April 8 to 12, 2025.

The announcement of the state team was made at the conclusion of a rigorous training camp at KD Singh Babu Stadium, by Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association. On the occasion, Vinay Kumar Singh, Treasurer of the association, distributed kits to the selected players and extended his best wishes for their performance in the national tournament.

Dr. Pandey expressed optimism about the team’s chances in the upcoming championship, highlighting that Uttar Pradesh had secured a silver medal in the previous edition. “The players have worked hard during the training camp, and we are confident of a strong showing this year,” he said.

The team will be coached by Mohd. Tauheed from Lucknow and is scheduled to leave for Odisha on Sunday evening.

The selected players for the UP team are:

  • Krish (Captain) – SAI

  • Pravesh, Abhishek, Ajay – SAI

  • Aditya Rajbhar, Harsh, Vikas – Azamgarh

  • Shaurya, Aryan Yadav, Azad, Ankit Yadav, Abhyuday Pandey – Varanasi

  • Nirbhay Patel – Saharanpur

  • Pushpendra – Amethi Hostel

  • Hemant, Kripank, Sonu – Lucknow

  • Ajay – Bareilly

  • Vishal – Gorakhpur

  • Harshit – Meerut

The 39th National Sub-Junior Championship is expected to feature intense competition as young athletes from across the country showcase their skills and represent their states on the national stage.
