Repertwahr Weekends Returns with Power-Packed Plays to Light Up Lucknow’s Theatre Scene

Lucknow: The city of Nawabs is all set to witness an electrifying dose of drama and laughter with the return of Repertwahr Weekends, an initiative by the Repertwahr Foundation in association with the Uttar Pradesh Cultural Department. This unique cultural drive aims to revive and promote theatre by bringing some of the finest stage performances to the heart of Lucknow, offering a perfect weekend escape for art and theatre lovers.

The upcoming edition promises an engaging mix of drama and comedy with two compelling plays directed by Imran RasheedBade Miyan Deewane and Phir Se Shaadi—scheduled for April 12 and 13, respectively. Both performances will be staged at the Sangeet Natak Akademi, starting at 6:30 pm onwards.

April 12: Bade Miyan Deewane

This laugh riot centers on an eccentric and wealthy octogenarian who lives life king-size until he unexpectedly falls for a beautiful young woman from his neighborhood—who, as fate would have it, is also his son’s love interest. With its hilarious twists and emotional undertones, the play promises to keep the audience in splits while exploring quirky family dynamics.

April 13: Phir Se Shaadi

A heartwarming romantic comedy, Phir Se Shaadi follows the journey of a divorced Indian Muslim couple who, despite their past, realize they are still deeply in love. The play traces their struggles and comical efforts to rekindle their bond and remarry, delivering a charming blend of emotion, humor, and cultural nuance.
