Bareilly: SRMS Riddhima hosted a soulful musical devotional programme, ‘Suron Ke Shyam’, on Sunday evening, bringing together music gurus and their students in an evening dedicated to Lord Krishna.
The programme immersed the audience in devotional music as performers presented a selection of Krishna-themed compositions. The evening opened with ‘Jamuna Kinare Mora Gaon’, performed melodiously by vocal mentors Priyanka Gwal and Rajni Agrawal.
Students of vocal music Kavya, Zara and Chandan presented ‘Radha Kaise Na Jale’, portraying through music the emotions and playful complaints of Radha towards Lord Krishna.
Instrumental music mentor Pawan Bhardwaj won appreciation with his rendition of ‘Aisi Lagi Lagan Meera Ho Gayi Magan’. Vocal students Aditya and Anshuma performed ‘Tum Prem Ho’, while student Shreya presented ‘Ek Radha Ek Meera’.
Vocal mentor Satvik Mishra performed ‘Yaad Hai Kuchh Bhi Tumhari’, while Priyanka Gwal presented ‘Kanhaiya Gopala’, earning warm applause from the audience.
The musical high point came with the collective performance of ‘Baje Re Muraliya Baje’ by the vocal mentors, which had the audience swaying to the devotional rhythm.
The performances were enriched by the accompaniment of an accomplished group of instrumentalists. Suryakant Chaudhary played the violin, Surender performed percussion, while Deepakant Johri and Amar Nath provided tabla accompaniment. Rishabh Ashish Pathak played the pakhawaj, Seema the sitar, and Pawan Bhardwaj the harmonium.
The ensemble also included Anugrah Singh on drums, Vishesh Singh on guitar, Derick Aman James on keyboard, Dhruv on sarangi and Janardan on flute, adding depth and variety to the evening’s musical arrangements.
The programme was conducted by Aruna Gangwar.
Among those present were SRMS Trust Founder and Chairman Dev Murti, Asha Murti, Usha Gupta, Dr M.S. Butola, Dr Prabhakar Gupta, Dr Anuj Kumar and Dr Shailesh Saxena, along with Dr Rita Sharma and several prominent members of the city.
The evening concluded on a devotional note, with the audience appreciating the performers for creating an atmosphere of spirituality and musical celebration through the timeless devotion associated with Lord Krishna.
