Lucknow: Even though the grand Maha Kumbh festival has concluded, political turmoil in Uttar Pradesh remains unabated. In Moradabad, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Dharmendra Yadav visited the residence of Bilari MLA Mohammad Faheem Irfan and launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the tragic deaths during the stampede on Mauni Amavasya at the Maha Kumbh.

Dharmendra Yadav criticized the Chief Minister, stating that families mourning their deceased loved ones are naturally in distress, yet CM Yogi Adityanath’s remarks regarding these grieving families were inappropriate and akin to rubbing salt on their wounds.

Double-Engine Government at Odds – Dharmendra Yadav

Speaking on the issue of pollution, Dharmendra Yadav pointed out that CM Yogi Adityanath had raised questions about his own central government’s Pollution Control Board. “It appears that the double-engine government is clashing with itself. Perhaps the Chief Minister was indirectly referring to his own party’s central administration,” he remarked.

The SP leader also reacted sharply to a recent statement made by former BJP MLA Sangeet Som, who had referred to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav as the descendant of Babur and Aurangzeb, albeit without naming him.

Dharmendra Yadav condemned the remarks, urging leaders to maintain decorum and respect democratic values. “Such distasteful comments have no place in a democracy. The people do not accept such divisive rhetoric. Sangeet Som has already been made a ‘former’ leader, and if he continues this way, he might become even more irrelevant,” Yadav added.

He further termed the statement as hate speech and urged the government to take strict action against it.

The controversy erupted after former BJP MLA Sangeet Som, while attending a program in Bilari, made an indirect reference to Akhilesh Yadav as a descendant of Babur and Aurangzeb. In response, SP MP Dharmendra Yadav, while addressing the media at the office of SP MLA Mohammad Faheem in Bilari, expressed strong disapproval of such remarks.
