Lucknow: Pharmacists across Uttar Pradesh paid heartfelt tributes to late Ram Ujagir Pandey, founder General Secretary of the Diploma Pharmacists Association (DPA) and widely known as “Pharmacy Ratna,” on his 23rd death anniversary. Members of the pharmacy fraternity renewed their commitment to uphold the ideals and principles championed by the veteran employee leader throughout his life.
A commemorative meeting was organized at the state office of the Diploma Pharmacists Association at Balrampur Hospital, where pharmacists and association leaders gathered to remember Pandey’s contributions to the profession and employee welfare.
Among those present were DPA State President Sandeep Badola, Pharmacist Federation President Sunil Yadav, Senior Vice-President Umesh Mishra, Treasurer Ajay Pandey, and several other office-bearers and pharmacists.
Addressing the gathering, Sandeep Badola said the organization remains committed to following the path shown by Ram Ujagir Pandey. He highlighted Pandey’s relentless efforts in strengthening the pharmacist cadre and credited him with securing the creation of key positions ranging from Chief Pharmacist to Joint Director within the pharmacy services structure.
Sunil Yadav described Pandey as a visionary, dedicated, and tireless leader who earned a special place in the hearts of employees. He recalled that Pandey united pharmacy students and professionals to launch a movement that eventually led to the formation of the Diploma Pharmacists Association, which continues to play a significant role in representing the interests of pharmacists across the state.
Tribute meetings were also held at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital, where a memorial gathering was conducted under the chairmanship of Pharmacy In-charge Anand Singh. Senior Chief Pharmacists Daya Shankar Pandey and G.C. Dubey inaugurated the programme by garlanding Pandey’s portrait and paying floral tributes.
A large number of pharmacists and healthcare professionals, including Sushil Tripathi, Ravindra Singh, Dinesh Pandey, D.K. Singh, Rajneesh Pandey, A.P. Mishra, M.P. Rawat, Shravan Chaudhary, Ajay Kashyap and Sudhir Kumar, participated in the ceremony and remembered the late leader’s contributions to the profession.

President of the Employees-Teachers Joint Front V.P. Mishra shared memories of his association with Ram Ujagir Pandey and praised his role in uniting government employees across Uttar Pradesh. He noted that Pandey’s efforts toward employee solidarity would always be remembered.
State Employees Joint Council President Suresh Rawat and General Secretary Atul Mishra described him as a symbol of struggle, dedication, and commitment to employee welfare. Several professional and employee organizations, including the Pharmacist Federation led by General Secretary Ashok Kumar, also paid homage to the late leader.
Speakers emphasized that Pandey’s writings, correspondence, and organizational efforts continue to serve as valuable resources for employee unions and professional associations. They urged employees to remain united and continue working towards the ideals of service, integrity, and collective welfare that he advocated.
Several participants, including Ramesh Yadav, Vivek, Girish Vishwakarma, Satya Prakash Yadav, Javed, Faizi, Rajesh Singh, Khursheed, Riaz and Rajendra Dubey, addressed the gathering and paid tribute to the veteran pharmacist leader.
Memorial events were also organized in various districts across Uttar Pradesh, where seminars, fruit distribution drives, and other public welfare activities were conducted in his memory.
Ram Ujagir Pandey, a respected employee leader and champion of pharmacists’ rights, passed away in a tragic road accident on July 6, 2003. Since then, pharmacists and employee organizations across the state have observed his death anniversary every year, remembering his enduring legacy and contributions to the profession.
