Lucknow: Acting on the directions of Police Commissioner Lucknow Tarun Gauba and Joint Police Commissioner (Crime & Headquarters) Aparna Kumar, under an ongoing drive against crimes targeting women, a team constituted by Inspector-in-Charge Mohanlalganj, Ram Babu Singh — working under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Md. Mushtaq, Additional DCP Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohanlalganj Rajesh Kumar Singh — arrested Roshan Singh, accused in Case No. 28/2026 registered at Mohanlalganj police station under Sections 87/137(2) BNS, for luring away and assaulting a minor girl.
Brief background of the case
On July 31, 2026, the complainant reported that his daughter, aged around 16, had been lured away by Roshan Singh, son of an unidentified father, resident of R.K. Colony near Nisha Dhaba, Mohanlalganj police station, Lucknow. Based on the complainant’s written statement, a case was registered at Mohanlalganj police station.
To arrest the accused and recover the girl, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) immediately constituted two police teams. The teams succeeded in safely recovering the girl. Efforts to trace the accused continued, with police raiding locations he was likely to visit. He was arrested on August 6, 2026, and sent to judicial custody.
Accused’s statement during interrogation
During questioning, the accused admitted to the offence, stating that he wanted to marry the girl and had lured her away for that reason. He pleaded, “Please forgive me, sir — I made a mistake.”
