MJPRU Organises Special Evening Programme to Promote Health, Creativity and Innovation Among Students

Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, organised a special evening programme as part of its Orientation Programme–2026, focusing on the holistic development of students and encouraging health awareness, creativity, innovation and essential human skills.

The programme was coordinated by Dr Inderpreet Kaur of the EC Department and brought together a range of interactive activities designed to help students develop skills beyond the conventional academic curriculum.

The event began with an interactive lecture by Dr Sumedha Gupta on “Health Awareness in Student Life.” She sensitised students to the importance of a healthy lifestyle, mental well-being, a balanced daily routine and maintaining good health during the formative years of student life.

This was followed by an engaging activity titled “Mind Over Machine,” which focused on the relationship between artificial intelligence and human creativity. The activity sought to demonstrate that while AI is a powerful assistive technology, it cannot replace the creativity, imagination, critical thinking, emotional understanding and originality of the human mind.

As part of the activity, students were given a series of creative assignments. They first completed the tasks independently using their own ideas and creativity and subsequently performed the same tasks with the assistance of AI tools. The two sets of outputs were then compared to highlight the differences between human-generated ideas and AI-generated content.

The major activities included “Story Completion on Innovation,” “Poster Designing on Future of an Engineer” and a PPT presentation on “Mind Over Machine.” The activities encouraged students to critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of AI while recognising the importance of retaining human creativity and independent thought.

The performances and presentations were evaluated by Engineer Afreen of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Dr Rohit of the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Addressing the students, Dr Archana Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), said that in the age of artificial intelligence, students needed to develop creativity, critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills alongside technical knowledge.

She encouraged students to use AI as a supportive tool rather than allowing it to become a substitute for their own abilities and intellectual effort. She emphasised that technological advancement should go hand in hand with the development of human skills and independent thinking.

The programme also provided students with an opportunity to interact, collaborate and express their ideas in a creative environment. The organisers emphasised that such activities were aimed at preparing students to meet the changing demands of education, technology and the workplace.

Student volunteers Medhavi and Yash from the EC Department extended active support in the successful organisation of the programme.

The special evening programme formed part of the university’s broader Orientation Programme–2026 initiative, aimed at helping newly enrolled students adapt to university life while encouraging them to pursue academic excellence alongside creativity, innovation, health and personal development.
