Mission Shakti 5.0 Drive Intensifies Women Safety Awareness in Lucknow

Lucknow: In a continued push towards women’s safety and empowerment, the Lucknow Police carried out an extensive awareness campaign under Mission Shakti 5.0 in the Hasanganj thana area, reaching out to women and young girls through community interaction and outreach activities.

The campaign, themed “Har Gaon, Har Naari; Ho Surakshit aur Ho Sajag Hamari” (Every village, every woman—safe and aware), is being implemented under the directives of the Uttar Pradesh government and the Director General of Police. The initiative has been operational across Lucknow Commissionerate since September 22, 2025, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar.

As part of the campaign, women police personnel from Pink Booth No. 60, Kailash Chhatravas under Hasanganj Police Station conducted a door-to-door and on-ground awareness drive on April 27. The team included महिला constables Tarawati, Jyoti Rathore, and Sarita, who engaged directly with local women, rural residents, and school-going girls.

During the interaction, participants were educated about women’s safety mechanisms, legal rights, and preventive measures against crimes, including cyber fraud. The police team highlighted facilities such as Women Power Centres, Women Help Desks at police stations, Pink Booths, Pink Scooty patrol units, and digital tools like the UP COP app.

Special emphasis was placed on raising awareness among children, with sessions on “good touch and bad touch,” while also encouraging girls to become self-reliant and confident about their future. Informational pamphlets were distributed, and participants were briefed on key emergency helpline numbers, including 112 (police), 1090 (women helpline), 1098 (child helpline), 181 (women distress helpline), and 1930 (cyber fraud helpline), among others.

Officials said that Mission Shakti Centres have already been established across all 54 police stations in Lucknow, ensuring prompt and sensitive handling of complaints related to women.

The campaign aims to generate awareness about crimes against women, promote gender empowerment, and ensure timely resolution of grievances. Police authorities emphasized that such initiatives are crucial in building a safer and more informed society, where women are not only protected but also empowered to assert their rights.

Local women and participants appreciated the initiative, noting that awareness at the grassroots level is essential for fostering confidence and ensuring community-wide safety.
