Gonda: Newly appointed Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jha has stepped up inspections of police stations in Gonda as part of efforts to strengthen law and order and improve police functioning.
The SP conducted surprise inspections of two police stations on consecutive days, reviewing administrative arrangements, records, policing operations and personnel facilities. He inspected Kotwali Colonelganj on Friday and Nawabganj Police Station on Saturday, issuing strict instructions wherever shortcomings were observed.
Detailed Inspection at Colonelganj
During his surprise visit to Kotwali Colonelganj, SP Abhishek Jha inspected several key areas of the police station, including the premises, office, lock-up, malkhana, barracks, mess and armoury.
He also examined important records, including the crime register, land dispute register, building register and beat information register. The SP reviewed the records in detail and expressed displeasure where documents were found to be inadequately updated or improperly maintained.
He directed officials to immediately update and organise the records and ensure that all documentation remains accurate and current.
Digital Policing Reviewed at Nawabganj
During his inspection of Nawabganj Police Station on Saturday, the SP placed particular emphasis on digital policing and the use of technology in routine police work.
He directed personnel to carry out office and beat-related activities through digital platforms as far as possible and ensure effective use of the Yaksh app.
The SP also reviewed cleanliness on the premises, maintenance of official records and the functioning of CCTV cameras.
Five Key Directives
While reviewing pending investigations, complaints and registered cases at both police stations, SP Jha issued several strict instructions to improve police responsiveness and efficiency.
He directed officers to ensure the quality and timely disposal of pending cases and investigations. He also stressed that every complainant visiting a police station must be treated with courtesy, sensitivity and respect.
The SP made it clear that negligence in cases involving women and children would not be tolerated. He further instructed police teams to ensure the immediate arrest of wanted persons, warrant offenders and active criminals, along with preventive action wherever required.
In view of upcoming festivals, he ordered intensified patrolling, regular beat visits and greater interaction with local residents to strengthen public confidence.
Focus on Police Welfare
During the inspections, SP Abhishek Jha also visited the barracks and mess facilities and listened to the problems faced by police personnel.
He assured the staff that welfare-related issues would be addressed on priority.
The SP called upon all personnel to work with professionalism, discipline, dedication and team spirit, stressing that effective policing should ensure a sense of security among citizens while strengthening the fear of law among criminals.
The back-to-back inspections signal the new SP’s emphasis on accountability, discipline, digital policing and public-oriented policing across Gonda district.
