Indian Coast Guard Inaugurates Modern OTM Complex in Puducherry

Puducherry: Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Paramesh Sivamani, inaugurated a state-of-the-art OTM (Office-cum-Technical) Administrative Complex at Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 13 in Puducherry on Friday.

The inauguration marks a significant step in strengthening India’s maritime security framework along the eastern seaboard. The newly developed complex reflects the force’s vision of a “Modern Force, Modern Infrastructure,” aimed at enhancing both operational efficiency and administrative capabilities.

Advanced Infrastructure for Maritime Operations

The facility features a fully equipped Operations Centre along with the Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC), Puducherry, creating an integrated hub for command, control, and coordination. This unified infrastructure is expected to improve response time and effectiveness in handling maritime emergencies and security challenges.

Strengthening Coastal Security

Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 13, which oversees Puducherry and parts of central Tamil Nadu, is responsible for monitoring a maritime zone extending over 140 nautical miles. The headquarters plays a crucial role in safeguarding lives and property at sea, protecting the marine environment, and securing India’s maritime interests.

Officials stated that the new complex will significantly boost the Coast Guard’s ability to respond swiftly to evolving threats, while also supporting coordination across multiple maritime operations.

The development underscores India’s continued focus on modernising coastal infrastructure and strengthening its maritime security architecture.
