Lucknow: The Life-Robo Robotics Club under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Lucknow University, in collaboration with the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS), on Saturday formally launched the ‘VORTEX’ Robotics Workshop Series.
The launch was held alongside the induction programme of the Robotics Club and featured the first session, titled “Robotics: From Idea to AI”. Students were introduced to the activities, objectives and future plans of the Life-Robo Robotics Club and IEEE RAS.

The VORTEX series aims to develop scientific thinking and practical skills among students in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The initiative will provide participants with hands-on exposure to modern technological applications.
The first session was conducted by Robotics Club Convenor Dr Manoj Kumar Jain, who discussed fundamental concepts related to transducers and sensor technology. He explained the classification and properties of sensors and their applications in robotic systems, including measuring position, motion, orientation and navigation-related parameters.

Students were also introduced to sensor-based decision-making systems and intelligent robotic applications.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Satendra Pal Singh, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, said the university aims to connect students with the latest technological developments while encouraging innovation and research. He said the VORTEX series would provide students with opportunities to work directly with advanced technologies and strengthen their technical and professional skills.
The programme concluded with an interactive session during which students raised questions on robotics and sensor technology and expressed enthusiasm for participating in upcoming workshops. A large number of students attended the inaugural session and gained an understanding of fundamental robotics concepts.
