Gonda: A multilingual speech competition was organised at the Lalita Shastri Auditorium of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Degree College under the Service Sankalp Abhiyan. The event was jointly organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the direction of officiating Principal Prof. Jitendra Singh.
The competition was conducted in Hindi, English and Sanskrit. The Hindi theme was “Drug-Free India: Empowered Youth, Empowered Nation”, while the English theme was “Indian Knowledge System: The Foundation of a Sustainable and Enlightened Society”. The Sanskrit theme was “Seva Sankalpah: Rashtra-Nirmanasya Muladharah.” Around 100 students participated in the three categories.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Jitendra Singh said speech competitions help develop knowledge, critical thinking, confidence and communication skills. Service Sankalp Abhiyan nodal officer Prof. Arvind Kumar Sharma emphasised clarity, reasoning and effective presentation as qualities of a good speaker.
Chief Proctor Prof. Sandeep Kumar Srivastava said such competitions strengthen students’ leadership skills, confidence and sense of social responsibility. Programme coordinator Dr Parvez Alam encouraged students to value participation and learning over winning or losing.

In Hindi, Milind Mishra secured first place, followed by Adarsh Singh and Pushkar. In English, Mansi Singh, Mukul Dwivedi and Abhishek Srivastava won first, second and third positions respectively. In Sanskrit, Aarti Pandey, Swati Kaushal and Kirti Devi secured the top three positions.
Dr Chaman Kaur and Dr Vandana Bharti served as judges. Service Sankalp Abhiyan coordinator Dr Rekha Sharma congratulated everyone involved. Dr Dilip Shukla, Akash Deep, Ram Bharose and Shankar Dayal also contributed to the event. The programme concluded with the national anthem.
